TASTE: 31 days of five-minute free writes
Dear reader, it’s late (11:13 p.m.) and I’m tired, but I also am not one to back down when I’ve made a commitment, so here goes …
I have been thinking about this prompt all day (and it’s been more fun to think about today’s prompt of “taste” all day more than it will be fun to think of tomorrow’s (“afraid”) for a whole day.
I kept thinking of making a freeform list of tastes that come to mind in my life. Here they are:
Any ice cream concoction at Big Gay Ice Cream in New York City. The thing is … they’ve all been delicious, but they’ve never been something that was eaten just for the pleasure. There has always been an “I need to post this” vibe for me. I love this place (these places because I’ve been to two locations) but wonder what it would be like to just go. So much of what I do is inextricably linked to the post.
The spicy soppressata pizza Wayne and I had at Indaco in Charleston this summer. I’m not exaggerating when I say this is one of the best pizzas I have ever had! We have tried to replicate it a few times since the trip, and haven’t quite achieved the same thing. I think the atmosphere and being on a fun trip had something to do with how much we loved it.
Any “everything” bagel I’ve ever had in New York City. I eat an everything bagel here in Tallahassee every morning. They are good, but there’s nothing like a true NYC bagel. Nothing.
