This doesn’t really have that much to do with “light,” but it’s on my mind.
Tonight, I participated in Tallahassee’s Neighborhood Leadership Academy, which I’ve been doing every Tuesday for a few weeks now.
Some of our sessions have been virtual (thanks, COVID-19), but gratefully the night dedicated to the Parks and Recreation Department (and the Animal Services Center) was held in-person.
The in-person included in-dog (how do I say that?) as the Animal Service Center was represented by Sky, a 2-year-old building mix that is up for adoption.
I remember hoping silently when they were explaining the various stations that we were to visit — that they would include “along with a furry friend” when they said one of the stations would be the Animal Service Center.
They did!
The Animal Service Center was the third station my little group of three people visited, and we met Sky there. If you’re a longtime follower of my blog, you know I’m not a “dog person.” HOWEVER, my two weeks dogsitting my son’s dog recently got me over that hump a little bit. I won’t ever be in the position to have a dog permanently in our home. But having Embry here made me a believer. After years of having only cats, I finally had a pet that liked me!
The moments that I was petting Sky and watching Sky and trying to take pictures of Sky were the moments of this week that my heart felt the lightest. Learning that Sky had been…
